Down on the Farm ...B-List #7

Last Sunday on the 3rd we headed down to our local farm to spend the afternoon there with Shaun's mom. It was a perfect, sunny California day. We've been to Underwood Farms lots, especially since its right up the street from our house, but this was the first time we picked our own fruit and veggies. It was a great experience for Sully to see where his food comes from, plus he got tickets to the ride the train and feed the animals which is what he really cared about. We enjoyed picking our own produce that we're going to make it a monthly thing now. This week we came home with lemons, tangerines, strawberries, cilantro and spinach!

Sully attended a bday party for his friend Jayden at the end of January and went bowling for the first time!

Christmas finally ...

And it's only already February. Go me!

We made a snowman ornament out of Sully's hand prints ... 

Decorated the house without one single fit...

Helped to string up all the lights ... 

Decorated our annual Christmas Hockey tree ... 

then watched Sully pose in a scarf he found while taking a knee... 

Each night unwrapped and read 24 days of Christmas & winter inspired books  ...

And came to mommy's office instead of school, (phew, off the hook!) ... 

Practiced some numbers to keep busy as the end of the day neared ... 

then had an allergic reaction (insert sarcastic YAY here) ... 

Read some more books once our eyes didn't look like we went 3 rounds in the ring ... 

Then had some friends over - an amigo, a goofball and a sultan king  (I made sure to protect the innocent and then gave Sully a hat so he wouldn't feel left out.This doesn't rhyme, but whatever)

The kiddos made homemade painted ornaments (okay the kids did one and the adults did like 

the remaining 4) ... 

And made "Reindeer Food" for everyone to take home and use Christmas Eve for Santa's helpers to leave outside their doors ... 

We went and picked out our tree with a whole lot of mud and luck ... 

And  then watched as Daddy wrestled it onto the truck ... 

Of course we made sure it was first "Sully approved" before purchase ... 

Then we decorated that bad boy & sang favorite carol verses ... 

We attended Sully's Winter play (he's in the moose antler hat)  ... 

Made treats for daddy's work & totally ate more than we bagged ... 

And of course also made some for the fat man in the red suit ... 

Who in turn, left us some pretty awesome Christmas morning  loot. 

Inexpensive home activity

During Target's Christmas clearance I stocked up on some super cheap buys that we could use at home for "schooling". I use that term extremely lose. Extremely. Anyways, I picked up these cute felt red, white and grey acorns that are normally $9.99 vase fillers for $.98. Score! I had no idea what I would use them for until a few days ago when I was looking for something else and came across some felt scraps. As luck would have it, I had the same color felt as the acorns, so we made some felt trees. I dumped the acorns in a bowl with a tong and we've been using them to sort, count, classify and make patterns out of. We've also been using them to practice addition and subtraction. Thank you Target!

B-List #13 1/12

January's new recipe of the month ...

Completed 1/22/13 - Vegetarian sloppy joes made with soy tempeh, carrots, zucchini, green onions and black beans over ciabatta bread and baked sweet potatoes on the side. It looked like chili. Haha.

Okay so it's not chicken cordon blue or anything but it was new and I'm totally counting it.

B-List #20 1/12

Completed January 15th: (Thanks Mom!) Sushi Dinner & a late night showing of The Hobbit. Haunted House was sold out. (I kid, I kid!)
