Under the Sea

This week I asked Sully what he would like to learn about or use in the sensory table. "Blue. The blue rock things!" was his answer.

So we added the fish tank gravel we had left over from when we actually had fish and he went and found his sea creatures. We also threw in some magnet fish with magnet poles so he can "go fishing." We pulled out his favorite book to use as inspiration for a art project which ended up being me just water painting and my mini master instructing me to "make more fish!" to cut out and paste.

Afterwards Sully picked out some words he wanted to learn. Its only been 4 days and he already knows Ocean, Water, Coral Reef, Sea, Fish, and Dolphins. He also told me a story about a fish that we wrote down and put up there. He has somebody read it to him everyday with the biggest grin on his face. "That's Sully's story!"

Playing IS learning! What we're learning:
Colors & Counting
Recognition of words/ideas and their different phonetic sounds
Creative writing & Recall
Fine motor skills - scooping, fishing
The different animals in the sea
Fine motor skills - Cutting (the fish and we had blue yarn in there)
